SHERMAN ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR IOWA’S CIVIL RIGHTS CODE LEGISLATION
Sherman Emphasizes Support For Senate File 418 & Stands Strong For Protections For Iowa’s Women & Girls
Williamsburg, Iowa: Republican candidate for Governor of Iowa, Brad Sherman, is publicly endorsing legislation SF 418 in the Iowa Capitol that will remove gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Code. Sherman recognizes the necessity of this step to ensure that other critical laws—such as protecting girls’ sports, maintaining the integrity of female bathrooms and locker rooms, and restoring common sense to Iowa’s legal framework—can take full effect.
“For too long, radical ideology has driven policies that put our daughters at risk, undermine fairness in sports, and erode basic biological truths,” said Sherman. “This legislation is a long-overdue correction to the 2007 addition of gender identity to the Civil Rights Code, which has been weaponized to dismantle fundamental protections for women and girls. I stand firmly in support of this bill, and I celebrate the legislature’s decision to pass it.”
Since this legislation has been filed, the Capitol has become unruly and, at times, unsafe. Sherman affirmed his position on the safety of Iowans at the Capitol by saying, “All Iowans deserve to come to the Iowa Capitol and feel safe and secure. While the Iowa State Patrol has been undeniably heroic during this chaotic time, they should’ve been given earlier direction to take steps to protect the safety of our citizens. It saddened me to see the Homeschool Iowa event last week have to be postponed.”
“Iowa voters deserve leaders who are willing to take a stand, and on this issue, I certainly will” Sherman added. “This is about restoring order, protecting our children, and ensuring that Iowa remains a place where truth and fairness prevail.”
